Silverman (Capan) Library

Located in the center of UB’s North Campus, the Oscar A. Silverman Library in Capen Hall is an innovative 21st-century learning environment. This newly-renovated space is a vibrant hub of activity, discovery and connectivity for students, faculty and staff.

Lockwood Memorial Library

Lockwood Memorial Library, the largest of UB’s libraries, is located on UB’s North Campus. Lockwood’s collections, librarians and services support students and faculty in Arts and Sciences, Education, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Management, and Social Work.

Health Sciences Library

The Health Sciences Library (HSL) is located in Abbott Hall on the South Campus. HSL’s collections, librarians, and services support the information, instruction, and research needs of students, faculty, and staff in UB’s health sciences schools.

Law Library

Law Library

Named for the Honorable Charles Brown Sears, the Law Library occupies six floors in the center of the Law School. Our services and research collections are carefully tailored to meet the research instruction needs of the University at Buffalo School of Law's students. Our beautiful facility, often referred to as "the heart of the Law School," provides a comfortable, modern setting that is very conducive to the study of law.

Architecture & Planning Library

Established in 1974, the Architecture & Planning Library is located on the third floor of Abbott Hall on UB’s South Campus. Our collections and services support the university’s School of Architecture and Planning, focusing on the fields of architecture, design, urban and regional planning, historic preservation, landscape architecture, zoning, and urban and environmental studies.

Medical School Library

Medical School Library

The Medical School Library is located inside of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences building, on the second floor across from the M&T Bank Auditorium.

Only people affiliated with the Jacobs School that have a UB Card and authorization may access the building and the library.

Archives & Special Collections

Special Collections

Special Collections includes four units: The Poetry Collection, University Archives, Rare & Special Books and The Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection. Housed separately from the Libraries’ regular collections, the rich literary and historical materials found in these collections make them invaluable to researchers and a distinguished part of the university.

Libraries Annex

Libraries Annex

The Libraries Annex, a 16,000-square-foot, high-density storage facility, houses more than one million low-use books and journals. This specially-constructed building includes a reading room, document delivery center, staff work areas and parking. Annex materials may be used on-site or requested via the Libraries’ Delivery+ service.
