This database is freely available to the general public via the Internet.

The ChemIDplus, part of the TOXNET family of databases, is a master chemical dictionary of over 400,000 substances cited in National Library of Medicine (NLM) databases, including all other TOXNET databases. More than 300,000 records include 3D chemical structure models. ChemIDplus is searchable by Name, Synonym, CAS Registry Number (RN), Molecular Formula, Category, InChIKey, Locator Code, Structure, and Physical properties.

This database leads to basic information about a chemical including synonyms, structure, and an extensive hyperlinked list of other databases and Internet resources containing much additional information about the chemical. A table of some toxicological properties and a limited number of physical properties is displayed in the main record.

ChemIDplus Lite offers simplified searching of textual/code fields without the need for plugins or applets. ChemIDplus Advanced (the default query screen) provides additional search capabilities that include chemical structure, toxicity, and physical property ranges, as well as 3D structure display. The Advanced query screen permits one to specify search values across multiple fields. In the Browse interface, one can also browse the database by name, CAS Registry Number, molecular formula, and four other fields.

Searching Tips: Structure drawing in ChemiIDplus Advanced uses Marvin for JavaScript, or Marvin Applets from ChemAxon Ltd., as the default. See the ChemIDplus Help for additional search assistance.
