II.  Accessibility Requirements before Submission

In addition to the guidance The Graduate School provides about making your thesis or dissertation an accessible document prior to submitting to them, the below information will help you meet this requirement:

SUNY has entered into an agreement with Deque Systems Inc. to provide accessibility training across all SUNY campuses. You can request a Deque University training account on the Deque University page of the Accessibility at UB website. Once you have your Deque account, you will need to take the courses relevant to the software you use to write.

For LaTeX users, you will need to take the following Deque University courses:

  • Accessibility Fundamentals - Disabilities, Guidelines, and Laws
  • Basic Web and Document Accessibility for Content Contributors
  • Basic PDF Accessibility
  • Advanced PDF Accessibility: Complex Tables and Forms

For Microsoft Office users, you will need to take the following Deque University courses:

  • Accessibility Fundamentals - Disabilities, Guidelines, and Laws
  • Basic Web and Document Accessibility for Content Contributors
  • MS Word Accessibility Techniques
  • MS Word 2016 Accessibility Techniques (Office 2016 Only) - if applicable
  • MS PowerPoint Accessibility Techniques - if you plan on submitting a supplemental file that is a PowerPoint file, such as a presentation related to your thesis/dissertation
  • MS Excel Accessibility Techniques - if you plan on submitting a supplemental file that is an Excel file, such as a dataset
