My motivation for my graphics has to do with my interest in Human Rights. Although I am not a geography major, sustainability is an impactful issue for everyone. Sustainability does more than just save the planet; it saves human beings. It is easy to take our planet for granted until we see the cost of human life. 1 child dies every minute from hunger-related issues, many of which are due to climatic changes. Crop failure in Africa has created devastating morality, underdeveloped countries on Islands have already faced terrible flooding, and even on our home turf we face systematic issues such as people of color and women have a higher chance to face detrimental issues due to Climate change. African Americans are three times more likely to die of airborne pollution than the overall US population, as well as women and girls are disproportionately affected by climate change, reflecting the fact that they are more likely in many countries to be marginalized and disadvantaged. Sustainability creates peace, not just for the physical planet but for billions of lives.
