ISBN: 1032540788Publication Date: 2024-10-29This book gathers together the experiences of leaders across sectors, organisations and client groups to help readers introduce, develop, and maintain psychologically informed environments (PIE) and trauma informed care (TIC) within their workspaces. Featuring the voices of providers, commissioners, consultants, and trainers from the NHS, local authorities, and the voluntary sector, this unique text includes chapters on implementing PIE across a range of overlapping fields, including young people's, homelessness, mental health, and women's services. Each chapter describes the contributors' experiences of which factors and processes enable or disable successful implementation of PIE/TIC; the unique challenges of leadership within this process; and how to understand the different dynamics at play in an organisation that determine effectiveness. With an emphasis on practical examples underpinned by theory, and recommendations drawn from the emergent themes, the book acts as an invitation for leaders to explore how they can influence the growth and evolving shape of PIE and trauma informed approaches across health and social care and support settings, and beyond. ISBN: 1040125379Publication Date: 2024-07-26This book uses an intersectional lens to explore the lived experiences of sexually traumatized girls in school. It provides a deep understanding of the students' experiences, viewed through the prism of their multiple identities. The author employs a qualitative phenomenological study to investigate the psychological, social, and academic impacts of such trauma. The book's core strength lies in its exploration of the intersectionality between identity and sexual trauma. It does this by examining the impacts of historical trauma, through the lens of four major historical events: transatlantic slavery, the Holocaust, World War II, and the COVID-19 pandemic. This research highlights potential mental health, social, and academic outcomes prevalent in historically marginalized groups, which is then connected to a broader understanding of intersectionality and trauma. It underscores the urgent need for educators and school leaders to understand this phenomenon in order to be effective in their roles. The book also emphasizes the importance of addressing trauma in educational settings, considering the intersectionality of identity, trauma, and educational experience. The book also proposes an additional identity marker to support Crenshaw's theory of intersectionality: female sexual trauma survivor.Trauma-Informed Spiritual Care by
ISBN: 9781506485836Publication Date: 2024-08-20Trauma pervades every part of human existence. From birth to death, there is no moment in which a human being is completely immune, with experts estimating that a majority of people will experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. Danielle Tumminio Hansen offers a dynamic exploration of how trauma affects not just the physical and psychological lives of sufferers but also their spiritual well-being. Taking a feminist and intersectional approach, she considers how trauma challenges people both individually and collectively, while looking at tools spiritual caregivers can use to respond to it. Integrating theological wisdom with cutting-edge psychology, she offers targeted interventions to help trauma survivors restore their sense of safety, construct meaning, and reconnect with their communities. She also considers how restorative justice can be a tool to help trauma survivors voice their experiences and receive accountability in community. Tummino Hansen constructs a crucial resource, at once searingly honest and hopeful, that belongs on the bookshelf of every pastor, chaplain, and faith leader.Trauma-Informed and Trauma-Responsive Yoga Teaching by
