Tool Selection
Tool selection happened after the framing of a high level processing workflow. Preference was given to open source or low cost tools, tools adopted by peer institutions, tools that were well documented and currently supported, and could perform more than one step in the workflow. Limited in-house technical support and staffing meant that the University Libraries was open to using proprietary tools if the system was automated, if installation, training, and IT support was included, if it was adopted by peer institutions, worked with systems already in place (ArchivesSpace), and provided an access platform.
