Description
EMBASE is a major biomedical and pharmacological database containing citations, abstracts, and indexing derived from biomedical articles in peer reviewed international journals. It is especially strong inits coverage of drug and pharmaceutical research. Embase provides comprehensive coverage of drug research, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmacy and toxicology, clinical medicine, public health, occupational health, environmental health rehabilitation and physical therapy, basic biological research relevant to human medicine, alternative medicine, and much more.
Embase is comprised of content merged from three databases:
- Embase, the Excerpta Medica database from Elsevier - 1974 to present
- Embase Classic - Excerpta Medica Abstract Journals backfile - 1947-1973
- Medline - includes current 1966 onward, plus OldMedline back to 1950
Embase includes content not available from Medline.
Creating an Account
Creating an individual account will allow you access to additional Embase functions.
NOTE: If you have already set up an account with your UB email in any other Elsevier product or journal, you will log in using the same credentials.
- Start by accessing Embase through the UB Libraries.
- From Embase, look to the top-right corner and click on the blue Sign in button
- In the pop-up box, enter your UB email (@buffalo.edu) then click the Continue button
- If you do not already have an Elsevier account, an email will be sent to your entered UB email.
- Open the email, checking your junk/spam/quarantine as needed, and click the registration link provided
- Enter your name, create a strong password and click Register at the bottom.
NOTE: Do not use your UBIT password.
