Ethics

New York's legal ethics are primarily governed by the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, which were adopted by the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court in 2009. These rules are published as Part 1200 of the Joint Rules of the Appellate Division (22 NYCRR Part 1200). The rules, modeled after the ABA's Model Rules of Professional Conduct, outline the ethical obligations and standards of conduct for lawyers practicing in New York.
