Description
Periodicals Index Online (PIO) , formerly PCI - Periodicals Content Index, indexes over 5,000 academic and popular periodicals published from as early as the late 17th century through 1995 (or last date of publication) in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. It leads to entries for over 10 million articles published in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and other Western languages. Select Find Journals to browse. It is also an excellent source for identifying books reviews. Full Text PIO offers links to Project MUSE and JSTOR journals and full text access to 500 scholarly journals through the complementary product Periodicals Archive Online (PAO). PAO may be searched through PIO. Select Article Search and then “Search citations with linked full text” on the upper far right. Among subject areas included: Anthropology and Ethnology, Archaeology and Ancient Civilizations, Area Studies, Art and Architecture, Black Studies, Economics and Business Studies, Education, Geography, History, Humanities, Jewish Studies, Law, Library and Information Science, Linguistics and Philology, Literature, Music and Performing Arts, Philosophy, Political Science and Public Administration, Psychology, Theology/Religious Studies, Social Sciences, and Women’s Studies.
Dates Covered
18th century through 1995. The earliest entry is from 1665. Between 300 and 500 new titles are annually added to ultimately cover more than 6,000 titles.
