Resources for EAS202: Flash Presentations
Flash Presentation Considerations
Things to Consider:
- Prepare your slides to communicate key findings, not details.
- You only have seven minutes, so think carefully about how to communicate these findings:
- Topic: "I am addressing the problem..."
- Context and Scope: "This problem affects areas involving..."
- Solutions: "Research has been done to offer these potential solutions..."
- Wrap-up: "Overall we found that topic...is a promising area for further investigation, with possible extensions to other areas of research, such as..."
Think about the problem scoping worksheet and what the main areas of your research have been.
When building your slides:
- Choose high-quality images: Choose the high-quality visuals, especially if they will be displayed in fullscreen. Clear and captivating images can significantly enhance the overall impression of your presentation.
- Align images with your message: Reflect on the content of each slide and ask yourself: "What story am I telling, and what type of image complements that narrative?" Make sure that the chosen images really align and reinforce your research.
- Maintain coherence: Establish visual coherence throughout your presentation. If you have established a theme, only choose images that seamlessly integrate with that theme.
