Description
Formerly known as Natural Medicines, NatMed Pro is a premier international research collaboration for evidence-based information about natural and herbal remedies provided by the Therapeutic Research Center. It combines the former Natural Standard and Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database. Uses systematic reviews and reproducible grading scales to create information that is evidence and consensus based and peer reviewed. Updated daily.
A suite of databases and tools offer a variety of starting points to discover scientific and common names, source, history of use, effectiveness, dosing, interactions, adverse effects, and mechanisms of action. Databases include: Food, Herbs & Supplements, Health & Wellness, Sports Medicine, Comparative Effectiveness, Manufacturers, Commercial Products, and Fixed Herbal Combinations (provides details of the composition of commercial combination herbal remedies). Tools include: Interaction Checker, Nutrient Depletion, Effectiveness Checker, Adverse Effects Checker (allows choosing the adverse effect first to discover which agents may be associated), Pregnancy & Lactation Checker, Charts, and an FDA Advisory section. The interaction checker includes both conventional and alternative medicines.
Individual monographs offered in versions for Professionals as well as Patient Handouts in English, Spanish and French, and References.
Throughout, each database and tool links back to the basic details, and offers cross references to products containing individual ingredients, as well as active links to PubMed. The Advanced Search feature gives the user more power to search everything or selected categories at once.
Clinical management courses offer CE for health care professionals with individual accounts.
