History of Medicine: Collection Policy
Collection Development
Materials that would be welcomed in the collection:

Collections or items that are related to the collection parameters but not currently available in the History of Medicine Collection or the wider UB Libraries collections.

Books that cover the history of the health sciences and books on topics of health science published before 1940.

Items to replace items in the collection that are in poor condition or missing.

Non-book items such as medical instruments, personal papers, manuscripts, or photographs.

Books or items that are significant to the history of the local area and the University at Buffalo’s School of Medicine.
We are not accepting the following:

Books or items already in the collection.

Offprints or reprints of journal articles.

Items in poor condition: Books with missing/broken spine, books missing pages, items that crumble easily, Items with mold, and items with significant water damage.

Items that cannot be stored safely in the collection (i.e. oxygen tanks)
-
Media in formats that are unavailable to the collection or antiquated: VHS, CDs, cassette tapes, etc.
